Confidentiality

The therapeutic session is a safe space where a client needs to build trust and feel comfortable sharing. Confidentiality is not only a legal concept but a vital component of the therapeutic relationship. The Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA, 2004), requires personal health information including case notes be kept in a secure and confidential server. As such, Tea Time Therapy utilizes Jane, a HIPAA compliant server, to protect all sensitive client information. Regulated Quality

The Psychotherapy Act of 2007 had regulated the act of psychotherapy to health care professions equipped with certain credentials. The College of Registered Psychotherapist (CRPO) is that regulatory body within Ontario. The CRPO defines the controlled act of psychotherapy and who is able to practice under it. The CRPO define this act as: “treating, by means of psychotherapy technique, delivered through a therapeutic relationship, an individual’s serious disorder of thought, cognition, mood, emotional regulation, perception or memory that may seriously impair the individual’s judgement, insight, behaviour, communication or social functioning. All of the therapists at Tea Time Therapy are registered with the CRPO which provides rules and regulations to ensure client safety.
